PPP3 - Briefing
Scary scary stuff, in a nutshell.
- PPP3 is going to be essentially the same as 1st and 2nd year only this time we need to be have a more critical and business-aware lens when looking at things that interest us in Films, Games & Animation.
- For example, a Film may release that I don't like at all but it has proven to be very successful so it would be in my best interest to analyse why the film is successful despite being not to my tastes. It would also be worthwhile to analyse a FIlm that I may like but isn't so successful and identify what has affected the sales/popularity of the film and learn from mistakes made.
On top of this, networking is going to be really important (not that it wasn't already) this year and a large priority of 3rd year should be getting my foot in the door for a career to pursue after University ends.
- Need to network with other people in the creative industries, be noticed and advertise myself.
- Advance my knowledge in software, keeping up to date and constantly learning of what's popular and used in the industry currently will be an advantage for myself.
- Other than network with people in the industry I also need to observe and identify how other people have broken into the industry, their process of self-advertisement and also their workflow.
I think I will also try to directly get into contact with companies too (and if possible specific individuals within companies) and try to gain knowledge from them, maybe make myself recognisable and if possible: a placement!
Before being able to get in touch with companies/individuals in the industry though I think it'd be best if I had myself prepared and maybe write up some questions for my self to ask. I don't want to come across as someone who hasn't thought about what I'm getting in contact with them for!
Current Plan:
- Identify companies/People that I may want to get into contact with/work for. (Team 17, Cryptic Studios)
- Compile a series of questions relevant to them, their field and what I would like to know.
- Get in contact, probably via E-Mail unless I can find a more suitable approach.
